Miss Laura
Miss Laura grew up in Maryland where she completed a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Maryland, followed by a Masters in School Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. After teaching first and third grades in Maryland and Fairfax County, she had two children. When Miss Laura entered Chantilly Academy Preschool as a parent, she was hit with the fever to teach at CAPS. Miss Laura’s educational philosophy is based on the belief that a child’s early years are the most formative in a child’s development. A successful preschool teacher can instill a love of school and life long learning in their students. Children should be nurtured in a safe, warm, and engaging learning environment. As Chantilly Academy Prechool’s Director, Miss Laura oversees all program curriculum, school year and summer activities and camps, and has a one on one professional realtionship with all CAPS Families to insure the best preschool eduction is being met for each child.

Miss Annie
Miss Annie is a New Jersey native who’s lived in Northern Virginia since 2006. She holds a BA in English & Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston and has previous experience teaching at a Montessori school and as a special needs aide to a middle schooler with autism. In teaching some of Chantilly Academy’s youngest students, Miss Annie creates a warm classroom environment that fosters the essential foundations of learning: feeling safe and secure, developing curiosity and a love of learning, and practicing social interaction. She lives with her spouse and 3 children. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, exercise, and playing with her 3 rescue dogs. Miss Annie is one of our 3-Day teachers.

Miss Mary
Miss Mary grew up in Maryland and graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and Psychology. She worked in commercial real estate then decided to stay home and be the primary caregiver for her two daughters, filling their days with art projects, play dates, books and fun experiments. When her youngest was about to start kindergarten, she wanted to continue working with young children during their important developmental years and loves teaching during the mornings at CAPS and our Extended Day Enrichment Program. Outside of teaching, Miss Mary spends her time volunteering at her daughters’ elementary school, working with their Girl Scout troops, and getting her girls to soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and swim.

Miss Jen
Miss Jen grew up in sunny California and graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She moved to Virginia in 2000 and worked as a pediatric nurse for many years. Miss Jen has always had a passion for helping children and sees each child as an individual who needs nurturing and support to be all that they can be. Miss Jen’s own children, now in college, both attended Chantilly Academy Preschool. In Miss Jen’s spare time, she enjoys gardening and beach time in the Outer Banks. Miss Jen teaches our 2-Day morning classes.

Miss Suzanne
Armed with a degree in Marketing and Business from the University of Maryland, Miss Suzanne worked in several diverse business environments, including radio, but her heart was always in preschool. Joining our staff over twenty years ago, she considers every parent their child’s first educator. Miss Suzanne’s class participates in task oriented activities while offering opportunities for the children to engage in social and imaginative play. Miss Suzanne is committed to equipping students with the foundational skill set to succeed in the Kindergarten setting – learning to get along with others, take turns, listen to others respectfully, follow directions, and use their imagination to create and problem solve. Miss Suzanne teaches in one of our 5-Day classrooms.

Miss Lili
Miss Lili is a Westfield High School graduate and has begun her studies towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. Growing up, Miss Lili knew from a young age she wanted to be a teacher, just like her mom. As a CAPS Aide, she assists our preschool teachers in the classroom, helps prepare projects, and is available to assist with the needs of our students. You will also see Miss Lily greeting our students at morning drop off and afternoon dismissal. In her spare time, Miss Lili loves to read, shop at local thrift stores, play board games with her family, and take power naps with her cat. Miss Lili is also on staff at CA Gymnastics and CA’s After School Active Kids Program.
